The Department of Employment and Labour invites interested and suitably qualified applicants to apply for the position of UI Claims Officer (X141 Posts) available at various Labour Centres and Satellite Offices within the Western Cape. This opportunity offers a salary of R269 499 per annum and is aimed at supporting service delivery through the effective administration and processing of Unemployment Insurance claims in accordance with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures. The filling of these posts will contribute to the advancement of representivity in line with Employment Equity targets relating to race, gender, and disability.
Applicants meeting the minimum requirements of a Grade 12 / Senior Certificate and up to six months’ relevant experience are encouraged to submit applications before the closing date. Successful candidates will be responsible for processing claims, registering employers, executing approved payments within prescribed timeframes, attending to client enquiries, and performing administrative functions. The position requires sound knowledge of relevant legislation, strong communication and customer service skills, computer literacy, and the ability to make informed decisions in a regulated public service environment.

Receive and assess all the UI Claims on the relevant systems in line with the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).
Register all employers and verify the declaration of employees as per the relevant prescripts.
Execute the payment of approved claims as per the set time frames.
Attend to enquiries relating to all processed claims or any other matter relating to the processing of claims.
Perform administrative duties in the section.
