Department of Health Hiring Laundry Workers – X28 Positions
The Department of Health invites interested and suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of Laundry Worker within the Laundry Services Directorate. A total of 28 posts are available at Masakhane Provincial Laundry and Cook Freeze Factory. The successful applicants will receive a salary package of R138 486.00 per annum plus benefits. Applicants must have a minimum of Grade 10–12 or equivalent (ABET), be physically and mentally fit, and be willing to work shifts. No prior experience is required, although experience in physical labour will be an added advantage.
The duties of the post include sorting, counting, folding, ironing, loading and off-loading linen, and delivering clean linen to hospitals. Candidates must be prepared to rotate duties, maintain cleanliness in the laundry environment, and ensure occupational health and safety standards are followed. Requirements:
Minimum of Grade 10-12 or equivalent (ABET).

Experience in physical labour will be an added advantage, ability to liaise with all stakeholders.
Knowledge of working procedure in a laundry working environment.
Knowledge of government policies.
Must be physically and mentally fit.
Must be able to read, write and Team player.
Should have good interpersonal skills
Be prepared to do physical labour.
It is a legal requirement that employees wear protective clothing.
Willing work shifts.
Duties:
Sorting, Counting, folding and ironing of Linen (Clean and soiled).
Off-loading of trucks (soiled linen) and loading of clean linen.
Counting bags for clean and soiled linen.
Delievery of clean linen to hospitals.
Willing to rotate.
Preparation of linen for ironing department.
keeping of the laundry environment and working area’s by following standard procedures.
Perform any other duties as delegated.
Ensure occupational health and safety is observed.

NB: Where Driver’s License is mandatory, exception will be granted for people with disabilities.
