BIDVEST INTERNATIONAL LOGISTICS IS HIRING A GENERAL WORKER

Job Purpose

Performing all general tasks in and around the Container Yard according to the Bidvest Iinternational Logistics’ Standard Operating Procedures (QWI) the successful candidate will be responsible to maintain the yard

Qualifications & Experience

Qualifications:

Grade 12,
2 years’ experience as a general worker

Experience

Proven work experience in a warehouse or Container yard
Must have the necessary safety training and certificates, and must be safety conscious

Key Responsibilities

Operations:

Clean the container yard, washbay, and around the Office with the ride-on scrubber and report all non-standard conditions
Daily Inspection – Inspect container stacks for safe and secure stacking.
Complete daily yard maintenance schedule
Maintain a clean Ride-on sweeper
Complete daily machine checklist
Adhoc MHE operation (less than 5 times year)
Observe and comply with quality, environment, health, and safety procedures
Carry out routine checks on the MHE and other devices
General yard operations assistance

Skills & Competencies

Knowledge:

Good working knowledge of warehousing principles
Sound knowledge of safe operating procedures of driving and handling MHE
Attention to detail

Skills:

Must be willing to work flexible shifts
Basic understanding of English
He/she must have the ability to work in high pressure environment
Physical requirements of the job -They must be able to bend, kneel and stoop from time to time.
Good numerical skills
