RAND WATER IS HIRING A HEAVY VEHICLE DRIVER

Job Advert Summary

The successful candidate will report to the Groundsman and will be responsible to drive and operate the truck safely, to remove refuse on a weekly basis as well as to assist the Gang overseer when required. The successful candidate will further carry out the day to day maintenance of station and the property with regards to refuse removal.

 


 

Transporting of Rand Water personnel where necessary, in addition drive trucks safely and to ensure that refuse is removed on a weekly basis. Ensure that all plants/facilities are kept in a presentable, safe and reliable standard as required by Rand Water. Keep truck clean and report all defects to supervisor and to assist Groundsman when required.

 


 

Minimum Requirements            

  • Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • 2 year operating experience in driving heavy vehicles.
  • Code 14 driver’s license and the ability to pass the Rand Water K53 drivers test.
  • Previous experience of operating a Back-actor and supervisory experience.

 


 

Primary Duties 

  • Refuse removal on property and inside the plant on a weekly basis.
  • Transporting of passengers and employees safely.
  • Delivery and collecting of equipment and materials as well as controlling/issuing of vehicle log books on a daily basis.
  • Reporting of incidents and defects to the Supervisor and keeping the truck clean.
  • Assist the Gang Overseer with overseeing employees performing tasks as per job card schedules.
  • Check whether employees are working safely in accordance with safety procedures and wearing the necessary PPE.

 


 

  • Check on workers performance and inspect tasks for the day and reports to the Supervisor as well as reporting of all incidents to the Supervisor.
  • Checks and ensure that tools are available for the various jobs to be executed as well as ensuring that tools under his/her supervision are guarded and locked-up when not in use.
  • Attend official meetings as and when required.
  • Complete job cards when required as well as the completion of time sheets, weekly and monthly overtime reports and to obtain authorization for requisitions and orders

 


 

  • Maintain stock level of material and stock as well as keeping proper records of material/spares. Stock taking and keep Civil store in order, neat and clean.
  • Loss control by reporting of all health and safety aspects in his/her area of responsibility.
  • General Housekeeping.
