The Stellenbosch University is recruiting candidates to apply for the vacant post of Transport and Logistics Assistant x2 Posts.
Duties:
- Providing safe transport for research participants and staff to the research sites and imaging centres;
- Assisting community research workers (CRWs) with home visits;
- Maintaining vehicles, i.e. arranging for the vehicle service as required, and arranging for vehicle cleaning;
- Transporting biological samples to relevant laboratories;
- Attending relevant meetings;
- Ensuring that relevant training and licencing is up to date;
- Communicating with staff and research participants;
- Performing recruitment liaising duties, including ensuring a positive relationship between SU and clinic staff:
– Supporting community research workers;
– Having regular meetings with CRWs and clinic staff;
– Consenting participants and assisting with booking and scheduling their visits.
Job Requirements:
- A valid driver’s licence;
- At least Grade 11;
- Resides in Cape Town, in the vicinity of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences campus, Parow Valley;
- Has reliable private transport to and from campus (situated near Tygerberg Hospital);
- Regular and long-term experience with driving a vehicle, OR previous experience as an employed driver, with a reference;
- PDP or eligibility to obtain PDP;
- The ability to work well within a team as well as independently;
- Willingness to transport potentially infectious people and samples (i.e. people with tuberculosis);
- Good overall health;
- The ability to speak, read and write Afrikaans and / or isiXhosa and / or English (at least two of the aforementioned);
- Computer literate.
