Driver Minimum Requirements

Candidates interested in the driver positions must meet the following minimum requirements:

Grade 10 or Standard 8 qualification

A valid Code 08 driver’s licence

Between 7 and 12 months of relevant driving experience

Driver Duties and Responsibilities

Drivers must ensure that all passengers and transported items reach their destinations safely and on time. Drivers will also be responsible for conducting routine maintenance checks on their allocated vehicles. This includes inspecting tyres, checking oil levels, monitoring fuel usage and ensuring the vehicle remains clean and roadworthy. Any defects or mechanical problems must be reported immediately to the relevant department.

Another important responsibility is maintaining accurate records. Drivers must complete vehicle logbooks and other prescribed records detailing trips, fuel usage and kilometres travelled. These records help the college monitor vehicle usage and schedule maintenance.

In addition to driving duties, drivers will also provide basic clerical support to offices. This may include assisting with document deliveries, helping with registry tasks and providing messenger services within the college.

Drivers may also assist with photocopying and faxing documents and ensuring that official paperwork is delivered to the appropriate departments on time.

Waste management is also a key responsibility. Cleaners must empty and clean waste bins, collect waste paper and ensure that waste is disposed of properly.

Cleaners are also responsible for maintaining cleaning equipment and materials. They must report broken machines and request cleaning supplies when necessary.

After using cleaning equipment such as vacuum cleaners or microwaves, cleaners must ensure that these items are properly cleaned and stored.

Groundsmen will also maintain lawns by mowing grass, planting seeds and transplanting plants where necessary.

Another responsibility involves disposing of organic waste and maintaining compost areas.

Groundsmen may also assist with maintaining infrastructure such as road markings, canals, walkways and building surroundings.

Additional duties include cleaning signs, light fittings and outdoor surfaces.
