Takealot, one of South Africa’s leading online retail and delivery platforms, is currently hiring Entry-Level Hub Assistants to join its operations in Newcastle. This opportunity is ideal for job seekers looking to gain practical work experience in a warehouse and logistics environment, with no previous experience required.
The vacancies are available at a Mr D Food / Takealot warehouse hub, where successful candidates will support daily hub operations and recruitment-related administrative tasks. A total of two (2) Hub Assistant positions are available, each focused on a different operational area.
Available Hub Assistant Roles
1. Hub Assistant – Warehouse & Hub Operations
This role focuses on supporting the daily running of the warehouse and hub. Duties include:
Assisting with daily hub and warehouse operations
Sorting, scanning and preparing customer orders
Assisting drivers and dispatch operations
General housekeeping and maintaining a clean work environment
This role is physically demanding and best suited to candidates who are physically fit and comfortable working in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
2. Hub Assistant – Recruitment Support
This role focuses on supporting recruitment and HR-related activities at the hub.
Duties include:
Assisting with contractor and driver recruitment
Screening applications and shortlisting candidates
Scheduling interviews and onboarding sessions
Maintaining basic recruitment records and reports
Assisting with general HR administrative tasks
This position is ideal for candidates with strong communication and people skills.
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for either role, applicants must meet the following requirements:
No matric needed
No experience
Be reliable and punctual
Be willing and able to work shifts, weekends and public holidays
Have good communication skills (especially for the recruitment support role)
Be physically fit (for the warehouse operations role)
Be entry-level (no prior work experience required)
