The Council for Geoscience (CGS) invites applications for a Receptionist to join its regional office in Bellville, Western Cape. As a key frontline member of this respected scientific institution, the Receptionist will provide professional reception and information services that support the CGS’s mission of delivering geoscientific information and services that contribute to national development and sustainability.

• Remuneration: Peromnes Grade P13 (approx. R299 179.75 CTC per annum)
Purpose of the Role
The Receptionist will be the first point of contact for visitors and callers at the Bellville regional office. Your role will be central to creating a professional and welcoming environment while ensuring efficient communication and administrative support across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
As Receptionist, you will be expected to:
Welcome and assist all visitors, directing them to the relevant staff and departments.
Manage incoming and outgoing telephone calls via the PABX switchboard, including connecting, holding, transferring, and disconnecting calls.
Provide accurate information to clients, visitors, and internal staff, referring queries appropriately.
Confirm bookings and distribute memos to ensure staff are informed of visitor appointments.
Assist employees and visitors using conference and meeting facilities.
Maintain a clean, organised, and professional reception area, reporting maintenance or cleanliness issues as needed.
Provide support with general administration duties when requested, including assisting with tender submissions and procurement record keeping.

Qualifications & Experience
• Minimum Grade 12 certificate is required.
• A certificate in Customer Care or Reception work will be an added advantage.
• At least 1 year of working experience as a receptionist is essential.
• Basic administrative skills, telephone etiquette, and general computer literacy are required.
