RAND WATER IS HIRING A BOILERMAKER/WELDER (X2 POSTS)

Job Advert Summary     

Rand water is looking for a candidate to service, maintain, overhaul and repair mechanical plant and equipment and to perform scheduled inspections all in a safe manner to ensure pant availability.

 

Minimum Requirements             

• Grade 12 or Equivalent (N3 Certificate).
• Trade test certificate
• 4 years in post apprenticeship experience
• A valid code 8 drivers’ licence and the ability to pass Rand Water’s K53 test.

 

 

Primary Duties 

• Perform daily maintenance on electrical and auxiliary plant.
• Perform scheduled checks on electrical and auxiliary plant.
• Perform overhaul on pumps, motors, etc.
• Equipment failure identification
• General operating of machinery, grinding etc.
• Flame cutting and welding.
• Rigging of equipment.

 

Knowledge        

• Basic knowledge of OHS Act and its applications.
• Basics welding and flame cutting of various materials.

 

 

Skills    

• Self-discipline, punctual and customer focused.
• Attention to detail.
• Team Player and quality orientated.
• Good Communication skills. (Verbal and Written)

• Customer service orientation

 

NB: The potential appointment to this position shall be subject to serving a MAXIMUM probation period of up to 12 months, based on a FLEXIBLE monthly probation evaluation process before confirmation of permanent employment in Rand Water.
