What Is a Traffic Warden / Peace Officer?

A Traffic Warden or Peace Officer plays a critical role in maintaining road safety, ensuring that traffic laws are followed, and contributing to the overall safety of the community. Traffic Wardens are often seen directing traffic, enforcing road safety rules, issuing tickets for violations, and helping in accident management. As a Peace Officer, you may also have the opportunity to assist in crime prevention and help maintain public order in various environments.

At the Bergrivier Municipality, the municipality is seeking youth, aged between 20 and 35 years old, for this important role. This training program is designed for those interested in becoming trained professionals in traffic enforcement.

The selected candidates will be trained in all the required aspects of traffic wardening and peacekeeping duties, ensuring that they are equipped to handle a variety of situations in their community. Minimum Requirements for Applicants

To apply for the Traffic Warden / Peace Officer training program, you must meet the following criteria:

  1. Educational Requirements: You must have at least a Grade 12 certificate.
  2. Clearance: A valid SAPS (South African Police Service) clearance certificate is a must.
  3. Age: You must be between the ages of 20 and 35 years.
  4. South African Citizenship: You will need to provide a certified copy of your South African Identity Document.
  5. Residency: You must reside within the Bergrivier Municipal Area.
  6. Driver’s License Preference: Candidates with a valid learner’s or driver’s license will be given preference during the recruitment process.
  7. Municipality Employees: Employees of Bergrivier Municipality will also be considered for this opportunity.

 


 

Additional Selection Criteria

In addition to the above, candidates must also pass specific requirements during the recruitment process and throughout the course period. These requirements are designed to ensure that successful applicants are prepared to meet the demands of the role once they enter the field.
